You don't need to figure out finances alone. With Eden Savers, you're matched with a dedicated financial coach who works with you one-on-one, virtually, on your schedule, to build a plan that fits your life. Whether you want to save for an emergency fund, pay down debt, or boost your credit score, your coach helps you take real steps forward. No judgment. Just guidance, accountability, and a partner who believes in you.

Enrollment Timeline: Eden Savers enrollment runs from January to June, with completion needed by mid-June for matching.
Surveys Required: Participants must complete four surveys and attend orientation, typically within two weeks.
Matching Incentive: Participants can earn up to $400 a year, with a 50% match on savings up to $100 monthly.
Language Support: Program materials are available in English and Spanish, with plans for more translations to enhance accessibility.
Coaching Sessions: Coaches meet participants twice a month for personalized guidance, focusing on achievable savings goals.
Participant Eligibility: Anyone 18 or older may join, but only one person per household can receive matched funds annually.

A Home is Just the Beginning

The Howard T. Collins Memorial Scholarship Program at Eden Housing was named in honor of a former board member, Howard T. Collins, who was known for his passion for justice and tireless work to expand opportunity and access to higher education. Each year, Eden Housing awards scholarships to residents of all ages who are pursuing advanced education opportunities.

When we invest in higher education dreams, the benefits are felt far beyond individual diplomas. Families are more stable; long-term career prospects improve; and our communities thrive. Many scholarship recipients are the first in their families to attend college.

In 2025, we marked the 33rd year of the Howard T. Collins Memorial Scholarship Program. To date, we have awarded $1.29M to 703 residents attending UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCR, Stanford, CSU East Bay, CSU Monterey Bay, SJSU, SSU, and SFSU, as well as many local community colleges and trade schools.

Watch your savings grow as your income grows. With Eden Housing’s FSS program, every rent increase you earn becomes a fund for your future—without losing your home or your benefits. Graduate with a dedicated savings account to buy a home, go back to school, or start your own business. Your next chapter starts here.

📈 Earn & Save: As a participant's income rises, the increased portion of their rent is placed into a dedicated escrow savings account.
🎯 Build a Path: Residents sign a five-year contract outlining specific financial and professional goals, such as securing full-time employment, building credit, or completing job training.
✅ Graduate & Thrive: Upon achieving their goals (including obtaining employment and no longer receiving cash assistance), participants graduate and receive the accumulated savings to use for assets like a home or education. One recent graduate saved over $10,000 to start a new chapter.
